MARMORINO

Description

Description
MARMORINO is a natural and ecological
wall covering prepared with aged slaked
lime mixed with marble powders, it is
suitable for decorative work and the
protection of internal and external walll
surfaces of both new and old buildings.
It is used in decorative work and as a plaster
finish. When the product is applied in such a
way as to imitate the material and the
glossy finish of marble, the product is
called stucco.

Characteristics
Easy to apply, it has excellent filling power
and has a natural resistance to mould and
bacterial attack. It remains perfectly stable
over time and it bonds completely with the
wall surface on which it is applied, maintaining
the natural breathability of the wall
structure. The product has a very low
content of volatile organic compounds VOC.

Composition
Slaked lime aged for six months and
filtered. Natural earth colours, selected
marble powders, cellulose and latex
(1,50% maximun dry residue) for a
uniform mix.

Surfaces
MARMORINO must be applied on dry
surfaces that have no flakiness or humidity.
Please see the table below.

Preparation of surfaces
There is no need for any pre-treatment
on new surfaces treated with lime.
On already painted surfaces or deteriorated
surfaces, it is necessary to remove the
existing paint which causes problems of
adhesion to the surface, fill any cracks with
putty and apply a coat of fixer (Isoquarz
IS /0255 or casein solution PL/1 182)
To ensure uniformity of the surface. After
applying the fixer, wait 24 hours before
applying a first coat of Marmorino.

Preparation of the mix
The product is ready for use. Any possible
presence of water on the surface is to be
considered normal and should be removed
prior to use.

Application
Do not apply on hot surfaces or when there
is bright sunlight or on a windy day.
The product is natural, so it is possible
to observe variations in tonality from one
batch to another. For this reason we highly
recommend the use of one single
production batch for the final coat.
Do not apply at temperatures inferior to
+5°C or superior to +35°C or with conditions
of humidity >70%.
First coat
Consumption : about 1.000 – 1.200 g/m²
Apply in a uniform manner
(After 24 hours) Second coat
Consumption : about 400 – 600 g/m².
apply the second coat when the first coat
is dry, taking care to apply in a uniform
manner, applying pressure and brushing in
a correct manner in order to obtain a smooth
surface with no uneven parts.
Third coat and polishing
Consumption : about 100 – 200 g/m²
Proceed « wet on wet » when the second
coat is not yet perfectly dry so that the
pressure of the stainless steel spatula
allows the total penetration of the
mineral and inert elements in the coat already
applied. During the drying phase, proceed to
polish with the steel spatula in order to
obtain a gloss finish.
Glossiness is obtained from the pressure
between the blade of the steel spatula
and the surface being treated.

Colours
MARMORINO is supplied in its base colour
of white. Starting with this base colour, by
adding appropriate earth colours, oxides or
colouring pastes, it is possible to obtain
varied colour tones. When creating these
colours, before adding the colour, it is first
necessary to reduce the viscosity of the
product by stirring it well.
Colours such as earth colours or oxides,
should be soaked in water and then filtered
if necessary. Add the colour gradually,
stirring all the time until the colour is
completely uniform.

Protective finish
Marseille soap PA/0605
Consumption : about 30 – 60 g/m²
Allow the surface to be treated to dry for
At least 24 hours, (until completely dry)
Proceed with the application of the protective
finish with a stee l spatula by c ontinuing to
apply “ wet on wet “ until the product is
completely absorbed. After a further 48 hours,
clean the surface dust of residual soap
with a cloth.
Water bases saponified wax CE/0303
Consumption : about 10 – 14 m²/ l
Allow the surface to dry for at least 24 hours
(or until completely dry). Proceed to apply
the wax with a steel spatula ensuring
a uniform application. Before the surface is
completely dry, (after about 30 minutes but
no later than 2 hours, polish with a cotton
cloth to obtain a gloss finish.
